The sacred Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Mandir, located in Prabhadevi, is among India’s most powerful Ganesha shrines and one of Mumbai’s spiritual heartbeats.
Built in 1801, the temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha in his Siddhivinayak form — the remover of obstacles and fulfiller of wishes. What makes this temple especially unique is its right-tilted trunk idol, carved from a single block of black stone, believed to symbolize strength and rapid manifestation of prayers.

Over the years, Siddhivinayak has become a magnet for devotees from all walks of life — from everyday worshippers to film stars, business leaders, and politicians. Despite the crowds, the energy inside feels focused and intense. People come here with quiet hopes: health, success, marriage, peace.
The present grand structure, expanded in 1990, features a gold-plated dome and beautifully carved wooden doors depicting the eight forms of Ganesha (Ashtavinayak).

History & Legend
The original shrine was built by Laxman Vithu and funded by Deubai Patil, who prayed that Lord Ganesha would bless childless women with children.
The idol itself is about 2.5 feet tall, with four arms holding a lotus, axe, holy beads, and a bowl of modaks, flanked by Riddhi and Siddhi — symbols of prosperity and spiritual success.
In 1990, the temple underwent major expansion, becoming the multi-storey landmark seen today, crowned with a gold-plated dome.
